ABOUT US
We are committed to being a "small batch", high quality dog maternity rescue with a focus on early puppy development using brain stimulation techniques in daily training sessions to enable our puppies to be placed into responsible homes and to become wonderful family members to their human adopters.

OUR STORY
Puppy Love Maternity Rescue was established in August of 2023, by Angi Murray and Kady Doody, two friends from Ventura County, CA. The challenge of unwanted, neglected and abused dogs in California is overwhelming the county systems, and growing exponentially every day, due to animals not being spayed or neutered. The friends were introduced to the suffering of the innocent animals through a collaboration with Bakersfield City Shelter.
Angi has a background in animal training and ranch management, and Kady, a recently retired RN, has the medical background and availability to provide much of the hands-on care these vulnerable animals need. The two discovered their passion was for the heavily pregnant moms who would labor, and deliver their puppies in a stressful, infectious environment- only to be euthanized with their babies in a few week’s time. As a small rescue, Angi and Kady discovered they could intervene in this tragic scenario, put great effort into raising healthy puppies, and find loving responsible homes in Ventura County and beyond.
Sixteen months after accepting their first pregnant dog, they have successfully placed 66 puppies and 10 adult dogs; all in homes that will be spaying and neutering their animals. This has all been accomplished with small, individual donations from our community. We are a grass-roots effort that has found a way to be of service not only to the animals, but to the adoptive families; we provide exceptional support, teaching and guidance to our adopters, and welcome each individual to our “PLMR” family. By remaining so involved, we help ensure the success of our adoptions.
As a new 501(c) charity, we are in need of financial support to continue our mission. Our expenses are constant, and community donations are generally one-time contributions.
Please see our list of average monthly expenses:
- $800 Boarding costs at property in Santa Clarita that will allow our dogs
- $600 Veterinary care
- $500 Feed cost
- $200 Vaccines (we provide all our puppies their full set of shots)
- $150 Wormer, health remedies, medications
- $100 Spay of mother dogs when pups are weaned
We have also recently incurred the capitol expense ($5,000) of purchasing multiple dog kennels as we set up our new Santa Clarita facility.
We would be grateful for any contribution you might choose to give. Please help support our mission to make a positive difference in these dogs’ and adopters’ lives.
